A member of the Parliamentary Oil Committee for the Al-Sadiqoon, Zainab Al-Moussawi, confirmed today (Tuesday) her support for the decision to adopt gas systems in cars instead of gasoline.
Al-Moussawi said, “The Ministry of Oil’s move to adopt gas systems in cars instead of gasoline is a step that was not born of the moment, but rather several years ago, and we, as the Parliamentary Oil and Gas Committee, support this step in order to reduce the financial pressure on the middle and poor classes”.
She added, “Using gas instead of regular, improved, and super gasoline helps citizens significantly reduce their spending on fuel, and also works to maximize the exploitation of surplus gas, as the production volume in Iraq reaches 3.1 billion cubic feet per day, not to mention burning gas in the atmosphere causes financial loss.” It is estimated at 450 million dollars per day.
Al-Moussawi added, “Investing gas in supplying cars, and with the Sudanese government moving towards investing in gas, this step helps reduce pollution and preserve the environment, as the world is currently moving, especially Europe, towards using natural gas as an alternative to gasoline as a means to significantly reduce pollution, especially since Iraq occupies Ranked fifth on the list of climate change in the world.
She also stressed the need for “the gas filling company in the Ministry of Oil to install stations to supply modern cars with liquid gas at one station in Karkh and Rusafa in Baghdad and the rest of the governorates, while increasing awareness and government marketing through the media, social networking sites, and influencers to promote the use of gas instead of gasoline”.
