Sadiqoun condemns the attack on Baghdad’s University professors and demands a transparent investigation.

On Friday ,Sadiqoun considered, the security forces’ attack on Baghdad’s University professors yesterday a dangerous precedent that will ultimately pose a great threat to the future of the country, as it called to conduct a broad and transparent investigation into the circumstances of the incident.

The bloc said in a statement, ” Scholars, researchers , and the university professors are the cornerstones of the country, and they are the owners of the foremost role in its development and progress, they help the country keeping a pace with the scientific development and improving Iraq’s standing among the world’s nations. and what happened on Thursday morning, 14/4 / 2022, of a blatant and unjustified attack on the professors of The University of Baghdad and its staff and the staff of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research by the security force stationed in front of the building of Baghdad University is a dangerous precedent that will ultimately pose a great threat to the future of the country, and Preparing the leading members of its society, such incident warns of violations of sanctities which deserve a salute, rather than abuse.”

The statement called on the government and authorities to conduct a thorough and transparent investigation into what happened with the vigil of the professors of Baghdad University and refer the underperformers to the competent courts, to receive their just punishment, and to make a formal apology to the professors and staff of Baghdad University.”

Furthermore, the statement emphasized that teachers’ legitimate demands, which are guaranteed in the constitution and by law, are to be implemented without delay or procrastination, emphasizing the fact that the Sadiqoun parliamentary bloc will follow this through its well-known control and accountability roles.”
